Meet Nigeria’s promising Ankara Designer: Vee Couture


Below is an excerpt of an Interview held for Vee Couture by Vivian Oruah, the young and promising founder reveals her entrepreneurial journey and aspirations for the African inspired design industry through her Ankara pieces. Read below to see her work and vision for her design and styles.

RT: Can we meet you?

VC: I am Vivian ORUAH. Am a fashion lover and a progressive communicator. I was born and raised in Delta State, Nigeria. I am a graduate of Mass Communication from the Delta State University, Abraka Campus.

My drive is to affect my world with my creative skills. Vees Couture: my brand was born in 2015, after I got trained. My passion for Ankara design began over ten years when i began spending time at my Mother’s clothing shop. i learned the basic of selecting ankara fabrics for targeted occasions and how to cross sell to customers

RT: Could tell us more about Vees Couture?

VC: It is a growing Ankara – focused brand for hand-crafted assortment of accessories and gift items.

RT: Any exciting moment to share

VC: Yes. My heart bubbled with excitement I got my first deal to make gift items for a wedding party, I have also collaborated with @sosoph makeup to do a photoshoot with their model.


RT: How have you been able to manage business aspects of Vees Couture?

VC: Like every start up, I have used social media for promo especially Facebook and Instagram to attract a community of followers and customers. I do way bills for clients within Nigeria. But I know it can only get better.

RT: So what do have to your fans and aspiring business owners
